Greetings and salutations, true, blue believers,
I would like to begin this month by acknowledging and thanking Mike Chmar for taking the helm here at The Blue Crew News last month while I was on vacation. Oh…and apparently Chmar is such a gamer, he covered for me while he HIMSELF was on vacation! There is no quit in that guy.
Over the winter here at the glass-enclosed nerve center of The Blue Crew News, I installed an ancient teletype machine I found on eBay. One of the many wire services I’m always anxious to read is that of Cooperstown All-Star Village, the 12-field youth baseball complex run by Ripken Experience in Oneonta, NY. Transmissions from there are fairly infrequent but, when they come in, it’s always with a bang!

Well, the dog days really are here, aren’t they? We had the umpire night at Capital One Park, and we had a few folks there; not as many as last year, but more than the year before. I want to thank Sam Lipman and Shaan Vardan for volunteering to coordinate next year’s effort.
