Working at Patriot Park
Andrew Mack and David Roche Rodriguez umpired together at Patriot Park. Here they are meeting in-between innings.
He’s Out
Crisp mechanics have always been a hallmark of umpiring excellence. I’m not challenging Mack’s out call here and I wasn’t even at the ballpark that night…are you?
Stay Focused
We all heard it in rookie class and it bears repeating…keeping our body and head still until the conclusion of the play is a critical element to getting the call right. Mack is fully focused on the play leaving us zero doubt as to his accuracy.
David Roche Rodriguez
Mack’s partner that night, out of Alexandria by way of Puerto Rico and on the plate, David Roche Rodriguez. Here’s David taking a stroll up the baseline to meet his partner between innings…(pic on the left)
The Crew
The crew get together for a brief chat, clear their heads and get ready to resume the game.
Taking Notes
The umpire’s evaluation process begins on the field. Here is Brother Mack, out of Arlington by way of Long Island, NY, between innings with his notebook and red pen out making notes to review in post-game and to populate his Arbiter report with.
