Fellow Officials,
I’d like to take this time to bring you up to date on some of the initiatives you have been hearing about, so let’s jump right in.
Next Association Meeting – As I stated during the April meeting, May 11th is Mother’s Day, so we have moved the membership meeting to May 18th. You will receive a notification from Zoom to register for the meeting. That email will be going in near future, so please be alert for it.
Ratings – Thanks to everyone who has responded to the ratings survey we sent out. As of Friday, we had 45 responses (we had 34 responses two hours after the survey went out). While I have not seen all the responses, there are definitely themes developing. If you have not done so, please make sure you respond to that survey. The responses have been thorough and insightful and while we may not be able to implement all the recommendations, we are taking all of them seriously. For your convenience, here’s the link to the survey: https://forms.gle/u6DnG1sBrqjeMegdA
Rules and Mechanics Training – While the editors of the Blue Crew News have done a wonderful job keeping us current with the articles from Greg, Vin, Paul and others, we recognize that may not be enough. Sometime this month, we will host a review of three-man mechanics over Zoom; in time for the high school playoffs. Additionally, we will be hosting a rules presentation, also over Zoom, that will begin to answer some basic rules questions. Our first presentation will be on the topic of obstruction/interference. Look for those details soon.
Banquet Update – I hope we have an update on the banquet that we can share with the members at the May meeting. All I can say now is that we are getting close.
Association Constitution and By-Laws – We are updating our governing documents. My plan is to have these documents available for your review by the May meeting so that we can vote to adopt them in the September meeting.
Uniforms – Please remember that patches are to be worn when appropriate. Also, please remember that the vote for the changes to the uniform policy will take place in the May meeting.
As we get deeper into the season, and with the summer season right around the corner, the number of initiatives from the Executive Board will begin to slow down. If you’re not working this week, there is a big tournament at Patriot Park among other places. That’s all I got, have a great time.
Thanks,
Dave
